About Janet
Creative Vision
Janet Hyojo Oh (She/Her) is a Korean American writer and producer whose work celebrates cultural identity and bridges divides through authentic storytelling. An NYU Tisch School of the Arts graduate (BA) and current MS candidate in Professional Writing at NYU, Janet's perspective is deeply influenced by a formative year spent in South Korea at age twelve - a pivotal experience that sparked her interest in the complexities of the modern diaspora.

From Rom-Com Roots to Cultural Identity
Janet's creative journey began with a love for the Romantic Comedy genre -- stories of connection, timing, and search for belonging. Today, she applies the heart and humor of those "Rom-Com roots" to her personal work, exploring how cultural identity shapes the way we connect the world and each other. Her flagship project, We Meet Again, represents the culmination of this evolution: a narrative that blends the warmth of human connection with the nuanced realities of the Korean American experience.
Screenwriting & Production
Janet's screenplays explore these nuances with both heart and technical precision. Her recognized works include:
-
"We Meet Again" (TV Pilot Script): Awarded a 2025 Individual Artist Grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts; recognized by the Flickers' Rhode Island and Imagine This Women's International Film Festivals.
-
"Like Clockwork" (Short Film): Earned Best Proof of Concept at the Austin Short Film Festival.
Industry Leadership
Janet is equally passionate about the "how" of the industry as she is about the "what." She is committed to demystifying the business and building collaborative spaces that mirror the real-world industry. Her current roles include:
-
Executive Board Member, NYU Arts & Entertainment Alumni Network
-
Co-Showrunner, JHRTS NY Writers Room Program (Season 3)
-
Board Member, JHRTS NY
-
Judge, The Telly Awards
