When a mystical bronze mirror awakens the vengeful spirit of a Korean queen silenced at the height of her power, a Korean American teenager must confront a legacy of pride, pressure and power -- with generational consequences that aren't entirely her own.

CENTURIES AGO...

Queen Seon-min was assassinated, but not before conspiring with a shaman to seal her soul inside a bronze mirror, determined to seize her next incarnation.

Seventeen-year-old Aera Lim is coming apart at the seams of her bicultural identity. When her mother humiliates her during a poem recitation at a Chuseok festival, Aera flees and finds the mirror. Struck by lighting, she wakes with the Queen inside her. Now sharing a soul with a woman who refused to be silenced.

TODAY...

WHY THIS STORY?

Fantasy has rarely made room for Korean American leads, even as global audiences prove year after year, an enormous appetite for Korean stories. We Meet Again meets that moment: genre entertainment with a protagonist the genre has overlooked, and a theme every audience recognizes, inheriting what our families couldn't resolve.

This is a cinematic exploration of the Korean American diaspora, blending the warmth of ancestral memory and American coming-of-age with the sharp edge of fantasy. It bridges impossible distances to arrive at something simple and profound: finding your people.

Creator Statement

IMG_7443.jpg

At twelve, I spent a year living in South Korea. It was a formative year for the hardest reasons: not fitting in and bullying. I came back feeling different from everyone around me, and I carried that difference for a long time.

We Meet Again is based on my life: a girl haunted by her past. But at its heart, it is a story about healing, about breaking toxic cycles we inherit, and about finding the power to define yourself.

Sixteen years later, I returned to South Korea and visited the school I once attended. As an adult who knows so much better now, I made peace with that year. With this story, I hope to finish healing. myself, and to help heal everyone who sees their own past in Aera's.
